The Florence B. Dearing Museum opened its new postal exhibit on Memorial Day. Hildy Foley, a HAHS trustee and former postmaster in Hartland, was responsible for the design and development of the new exhibit. A first day cover was issued from the Florence B. Dearing Museum Station on Memorial Day by Hartland's current postmaster, Mike Bulbuk. Helping with the postal exhibit was Hildy's granddaughter, Jackie Spezia. Driving his vintage 1931 mail truck in the parade was Mike Schragg from the US Postal Museum, Marshall, Michigan. Thanks to Janet Frick and Hildy Foley the museum grounds were ablaze with new plantings. Antique tractors were exhibited on the south lawn. Museum curator, Nadine Cloutier, served as parade Grand Marshall. The Museum is closed to the public for the rest of the summer while renovation work continues. Stop by on Heritage Day, September 20, to see how work is progressing.
